3 more Northeast Michiganders infected

ALPENA — District Health Department No. 4 announced today three new confirmed infections among Northeast Michigan residents: two Alpena County residents and one Presque Isle County resident.

The new infections pushed to 115 the total number of Alpena County residents infected since mid-March, of whom 100 have recovered and 13 have died.

Eighteen Presque Isle County residents have been infected, of whom 13 have recovered and one has died.

There were no changes today in the totals number of infected Montmorency County residents — seven infected, five recovered — or Alcona County residents — 24 infected, 20 recovered, and one dead.

Local health officials urge people to mask up when going out in public and to continue to follow the six-foot social distancing recommendation. Practicing good hygiene and staying away from crowds is also recommended.

Since mid-March, 87,403 Michiganders have been infected and 6,249 have died, including 514 new infections and a pair of deaths announced today.
