Alpena County man arrested, felonious assault at car wash

ALPENA COUNTY — Kevin Worth, 51, of Alpena was arrested following an investigation into an alleged felonious assault that occurred at a local car wash in Alpena County, according to a Michigan State Police (MSP) press release on Wednesday.

At approximately 7:20 p.m. on May 29, troopers from the MSP Alpena Post responded to a car wash in Alpena Township for a report of shots fired from an apartment complex, the release stated. The preliminary investigation indicated that Worth was shooting what appeared to be a pneumatic gun from the second-floor balcony towards the car wash.

According to MSP, utilizing live drone footage from the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office, troopers were able to see where the shots were coming from and identify Worth. Troopers executed a search warrant at the apartment complex. Worth was arrested without incident, and evidence was seized.

No injuries were reported; however, the back window of a vehicle was damaged during the incident.

Worth was arraigned on June 1 in the 88th District Court in Alpena County on the following charges:

– Two counts: Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Felonious Assault)

– One count: Weapons: Felony Firearm (Pneumatic Gun)

– One count: Malicious Destruction of Personal Property (>$1,000<$20,000) - Two counts: Disorderly Person, Disrupting the Peace Worth was given a $25,000 cash or surety bond. His next court appearance is on June 17 at 2:30 p.m. Troopers were assisted by the Alpena County Sheriff's Office and the Alpena Police Department.
