Ice cream social
ALPENA — On Friday, the Grace Episcopal Church will have its last ice cream social of the year. The church will be serving grilled hot dogs, assorted make your own sandwiches with homemade bread, cold salads, and watermelon. There will also be assorted deserts and homemade pies, plus ice cream with all the toppings. Food will be served from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and cost is by donation. In July the church was able to give $400 to the Alpena County Fair Society thanks to the public’s generosity.

POSEN — The VFW Posen Post 7804 will host a breakfast on Sunday at 8 a.m. until noon. The cost for an adult is $10, $5 for children 5 to 12 years old and children under the age of five are free. The facility is handicap accessible and pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy, hashbrowns, ham, eggs to order and desserts on the menu.
