ALPENA – Magic in Our Midst is a free magical event for children and their families to meet the animals of the woods. The event will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday evening, Nov. 7 at Island Park in Alpena. Island Park is located at the corner of US 23 and Long Rapids Road. Guided tours for groups will consist of up to eight people and will occur every ten minutes.
At the start of the walk, participants will be greeted by the Spirit of the Island, Sah-gon-ah-ka-to. After walking the trail, for about 30 minutes, groups will be invited to stop at the Northland Credit Union trailer in Duck Park for a warm cup of hot chocolate and a box of animal crackers. Children will receive a small flashlight they can use throughout the program.
