“In God We Trust” This is still on our coins and bills and it is in our pledge to the flag. And yet it seems like many laws that are passed go against God’s will. Don’t let politics control our school system

Alpena is blessed with an amazing school system. Our teachers and school staff work tirelessly. The administration is very dedicated. We should be very proud and support them whenever possible. All of the staff, work at the direction and guidance of the elected school board. This board is extremely important to the health and well-being of our school system. The Supreme Court ruling this summer overturning Roe v. Wade left a woman’s Right to Autonomy to state jurisdiction and instantly relegated all women to second-class citizen status. Clarifying inaccurate comments on Prop. 3

In response to the Oct 1, 2022 letter-to-the editor regarding Proposition 3, several of the points made are incomplete and/or incorrect. Let me clear them up. Prop. 3 restores the same rights we had under Roe v Wade for 50 years. Prop. 3, added to our State Constitution, gives the broad rights to citizens to make their own private pregnancy medical decisions. Let’s look at Michigan’s Proposal 3 for November 2022. First, this is a proposal to change the constitution of our state, not a new law that can be rewritten at a later date. The italicized phrases which follow are the amendment’s texts.
