Public money for me, but not for our kids?

Twice in the last four years, AJ MacArthur voted no on the Michigan Athletics Association agreement with Alpena Public Schools. Meanwhile, his own business, AJ’s Garden & Produce Inc., has benefited from taxpayer-funded assistance, including forgiven PPP loans and substantial agricultural subsidies totaling more than $60,000 combined. Don’t support those that support Donald Trump

I ask if you do not support Donald Trump why would you vote for the likes of Mike Rogers, Jack Bergman or John James who have supported Donald Trump policies and initiatives throughout his Presidency? Concerned about lack of response from our senators

Back in July, I wrote emails to each of our Michigan U.S. Senators. I asked them if they would tell me what they thought about The Democratic Socialists of America candidates who are running for various congressional and senatorial positions around the country. I asked them two separate times for a response. Has not happened. I always get an email back when I write them thanking them for their work on important legislation. Saturday is final day for candidate letters

Saturday will be the final day that The News will publish letters to the editor pertaining to candidates in the upcoming election on Nov. 3. If you have a letter about a current candidate or candidates, please be sure to have it submitted no later than 1 p.m. on Friday. Letters will be published in the order they are received. Letters to the editor can be submitted via email at sschulwitz@thealpenanews.com, by mail, or by simply dropping them off at The Alpena News office at 130 Park Place in Alpena.

As we approach a highly contentious Alpena Public Schools Board of Education election, I am making a conscious effort to give every candidate an equal opportunity to earn my vote. That means researching their records, asking questions, and understanding the decisions they've made.
