Cheybogan board: Don’t accept resignation
The news report is that Sheriff Clairmont will resign and recommends the Cheboygan County Board of Commissioners appoint his recommendation to replace him. The seeds of fascism are sown, nurtured and grown right here at home. It is unlawful to run for a public office with the intent to resign before fulfilling the term. The Cheboygan County Board of Commissioners should refuse to accept his resignation. In a functioning democracy, they will refer the matter to the Prosecuting Attorney and the Attorney General of the State of Michigan for investigation and potential indictment.
