Election Day will have big consequences

In your commentary on Oct. 15, the statement concerning support by the Democratic Party for the three incumbents and Sarah Fritz is inaccurate and misleading. Sarah’s campaign is nonpartisan/nonpolitical. She is a passionate supporter of public education and all efforts needed to provide for the best education of all students. Her campaign is supported by small donations from numerous individuals and her own funding. We are writing to encourage all voters to do their research, read the proposals, and vote! Read the actual proposal language and make your decision accordingly. Here is some basic information on the proposals: Proposal 1 is a Constitutional amendment that deals with both term limits and financial disclosures in the legislature. October is always a wonderful time of year in Northern Michigan. October is also Kindness and Anti-bullying Month. Bullying is pervasive, destructive, and occurs at all levels and ages in society. As we are fast approaching the 2022 election, with some ballots having already been cast, I urge you to vote no on all three proposals. Proposal 1 will double the amount of time a state representative can serve in Lansing, which is the last thing we need. Proposal 2 will gut voter ID, create a system where the only people who can audit the vote are the people who count the ballots and let billionaires give money to the very people who count the votes.
