Civic Theatre gets ‘Seussified’
What do you get when you take 27 cast members, mostly under the age of 16, add a dash of Scrooge with a pinch of the Grinch?
You get Alpena Civic Theatre’s Christmas production of “A Seussified Christmas Carol,” of course.
Director Julie Meyers and Assistant Director Carol Rundell decided it was time to depart from the popular half-hour Christmas productions, and bring you this full-length play, showing Thursday through Sunday this week and again Dec. 13 through 16. Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday shows are at 2 p.m.
All tickets are only $5 per person for this show.
“Alpena Civic Theatre is so very thankful for the support our community gives us every year, and is grateful for their continued patronage,” Meyers said. “As a true community volunteer theatre, we strive to showcase local talent both on and off stage. So in the spirit of Christmas, we are so happy to present this production as a Christmas present for you, and will be selling all tickets for $5 each with general admission. It is our thank you for supporting us.”
Join Scrooge, Marley and the ghosts that visit him along his journey to finding his Christmas spirit. Laugh as the Ghost of Christmas Past bears a strong resemblance to Elvis, and the future ghost is a bit, well, futuristic. Don’t worry if you don’t know the show – Narrator One and Narrator Two will make sure you follow this Seussical ode to the Dickens classic. And yes, Timmy Loo Cratchitt will bless us, every one.
The cast is as follows:
Narrator 1: Diane Lozen; Narrator 2: Jessica Krueger; The Scrooge: Scott Ickes; Jake Marley: Ted Rockwell; Bob Cratchit: Bob Coleman; Mrs. Cratchit: Dani Ayotte; Ringo Cratchit: Rodney Ayotte; Sally Cratchit: Lily Wheelock; Timmy Loo Cratchit: Max Collins; Bed Headed Fred: Evan Carlson; Solicitor 1: Maddie Young; Solicitor 2: Taylor Ayotte; Ghost of Christmas Past: Randy Bouchard; Ghost of Christmas Present: Donna Roussin; Ghost of Christmas Future: Isaac Ayotte; Boy/Young Scrooge: Riley Coleman; Little Fan: Alayna Krey; Schoolmaster: William Schultz, Schoolmaster Servant: Garrett Flanner; Young Scrooge: William Schultz; Belle: Victoria Anderson; Husband: Garrett Flanner; Lighthouse Keeper 1: Alayna Krey; Lighthouse Keeper 2: Laura Poli; Sailors: Zoe McKim, Molly Ayotte and Madison Ellis; Bed Headed Fred’s Wife: Maddie Young; Party Voices: William Schultz, Garrett Flanner, Victoria Anderson, Riley Coleman; Bystanders: Hailey McKenzie, Juliann Lowe, Taylor Ayotte; The Kid: Annabelle Krueger; Maid: Seirra Ludlow.
