NEMCSA offering vehicle repair assistance program to eligible residents

ALPENA — Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency is offering vehicle repair assistance to eligible residents of Alcona, Alpena, Arenac, Cheboygan, Crawford, Iosco, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Otsego, and Presque Isle counties.

“We’re really focusing on the primary vehicle in the household,” said Amanda Bergeron, NEMCSA community resource coordinator. “This has been identified as a top need in our most recent Community Needs Assessment.”

Transportation was listed as a top priority in the 2022 Community Needs Assessment, followed by housing, and child care.

When applying for the NEMCSA vehicle repair assistance program, priority may be given to thos who rely on their vehicle for work, school, or transporting their children to child care or school.

Funding is limited. Eligibility requirement include:

∫ Income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (see medicaidplanningassistance.org/federal-poverty-guidelines).

∫ Resident of one of the NEMCSA core counties, listed above.

∫ Valid Michigan driver’s license.

∫ Vehicle ownership.

∫ Vehicle is primary transportation.

∫ Repairs should not exceed vehicle’s retail value.
