Vote absentee to vote while staying safe
We are living in unprecedented times. Our lives and routines have been turned upside down. However, we should look ahead that this, too, will pass.
As we consider the future, it’s important to remember that as citizens of a democracy, we have some important decisions this year. We were able to conduct our state’s presidential primary before lockdown measures were enacted.
There are to more elections this year: an August primary (for non-presidential offices) and a general election in November.
We would encourage all voters to consider applying for an absentee ballot for these elections. Because of a voter-sponsored proposition overwhelmingly passed by voters in 2018, any registered citizen can request an absentee ballot. Contact your local clerk to request one.
If you are not sure of your voting registration status, please go online to Michigan.gov/sos. You can register online! If you need election information, please go to vote411.org.
The times are difficult, but our civic responsibilities continue. Voting absentee is a good way to vote and still practice social distancing.
