Parents should choose which books kids read

I am writing this letter to strongly urge the library to keep the book “All Boys Aren’t Blue” in the young adult section of the library.

Our local youth deserve to have a diverse selection of books available to them.

Using passages out of context as grounds to move or ban a book, which is being done in this case, ignores the overall importance of the book for some readers.

We live in a diverse society and our library needs to be inclusive.

Letting one group dictate what is appropriate for others denies individuals the freedom to choose for themselves, and, for our kids, what books they read should be made by the people who know them best, their parents.

Deciding a book is inappropriate is subjective. No one has the right to censor what books are available to others.
