Proud of Alpena Public Schools

I am a proud product of public education. My entire K-12 experience was within Alpena Public

Schools. Dedicated professional school staff including food service, custodians, teachers, and

school secretaries set me up for long-term success. Without my public education I would not be

where I am today.

Following my graduation from Alpena High School, I attended Central Michigan University. My

strong APS education allowed me to succeed which led to me being awarded a 45% tuition

scholarship and becoming a Leadership Advancement Scholar.

Beyond assisting me in obtaining large scholarships from Central Michigan University, APS set

me up to succeed in other ways. My experiences in AP US Government motivated me to seek

an internship in state government. Ultimately, I had the opportunity to intern with the Executive Office of the Governor. The following semester I interned in Washington D.C. with the House of Representatives as a Legislative and Press Intern. Without the solid base that an APS

education provided me I would not have been fortunate enough to have those professional

experiences while earning my degree.

The opportunities provided to me were made possible by a Board of Education that was focused

on the future of Alpena Public Schools.

This board is failing because multiple members of the Alpena Public Schools Board of

Education have personal agendas. This must end. The kids must come first.

Our schools work the best when we have a Board of Education that operates with the public

interest in mind. The three members with an active recall against them are not allowing Alpena

Public Schools to succeed. They are setting our public schools and our children up for failure. I support this recall so students in the future will have the same opportunities to succeed that I did.
