Shirley Ann MacKenzie, 94, of Alpena passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023, at home. Shirley Ann Schryer was born Feb.1, 1929, in Alpena to the late William and Emma (Glenni) Schryer. On April 15, 1950, she married Orville MacKenzie. He preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2019. Shirley was a lifetime resident of Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School. She worked at State Farm, WBKB TV, and VanWagnen Optometry. Shirley was an active member of All Saints Parish and volunteered for Hospice and the Friendship Room. Louis (Louie) Misiak, 88 of Posen, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023, at home. Born on June 28, 1934, to the late John and Mary (Purol) Misiak. He married Doris Suszek on October 16, 1954, she preceded him in death on June 7, 2003. Louie worked and retired from Stoneport as well as farmed for many years. He enjoyed both reading and watching old westerns. Louie was a skilled carpenter, known for his meticulous attention to detail, which was evident in every project he took on, including building his own home. Allen K. Reynolds, age 87, of Hubbard Lake passed away April 21, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Alpena. Allen was born on May 3, 1935, in Alpena, the son of Adam and Beatrice (Peters) Reynolds. He grew up in the Spruce area and attended Alpena schools. On March 14, 1959, he married Ruth (Glaser) in Hubbard Lake. He was employed as a construction worker for many years, and also built their family home. FRENCH, Howard, 77, of Hubbard Lake, died Jan. 27, 2023. Howard is survived by his wife, Geneva (Ginny) Eustis French, his children Scott Howard (Sherri), Dallas Ann Tomlin, and Ryan Eustis (Stephanie). Also, his amazing grandchildren who brought him such happiness, Alexa, Evelyn, Anika, Annette (Annie), and Jackson. A celebration of Howard’s life will be held at McWilliams Funeral Home on April 29, 2023 at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow. Michigan State Spartan attire is encouraged.

Mabel Ann Joseph, 98, of Alpena passed away peacefully Friday, April 21, 2023. Mabel was born March 9, 1925, in Alpena to the late Akel and Wadei (Ayoub) Joseph. She worked for the 26th Circuit Court as Court Administrator before retiring to a life of community service, being active with the Alpena Friends of the Library, the League of Women Voters, Zonta, and the First Baptist Church Choir, before finally pulling back due to complications from diabetes.
