Rogers City Nautical Festival is a go

People enjoy a carnival ride during the Nautical City Festival in 2019. The event was cancelled last year, but is a go in 2021.

The Nautical City Festival in Rogers City is a go for this summer, after the festival board agreed to move forward with the popular event that will run from Aug. 3-8.

According to co-chair Kim Margherio, the popular events, like the pageant and parade, will be held, and plans for the softball tournament are ongoing. She said there will be live entertainment in the big tent, as in years past.

Margherio said the festival will abide by State COVID-19 regulations, but as of now, plans are moving on as if the events will go off without a hitch.

“We’ll follow the guidelines of the State and do what we are allowed to do, and whatever we’re not allowed to do, we won’t do,” she said.

Margherio said the festival is important to residents of Rogers City and beyond. She said hosting the event this year, after it was canceled in 2020, will help to boost the spirits of the people who have missed out on a lot during the pandemic.

“The festival is a time where people come together to support one another, have fun, socialize, and support local small businesses,” Margherio said. “I think that is important, especially as we come out of the pandemic.”

The organizers of the festival are searching for volunteers to help with the many events during the festival. Margherio said anyone interested in lending a hand can contact the Rogers City Chamber of Commerce at 989-734-2535
