ALPENA — The first COVID-19 case was reported at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey, the hospital announced today.

A patient in the hospital’s COVID isolation unit received a presumptive positive COVID-19 result from the Michigan State Lab, according to a press release issued at about 7 p.m.

The patient was admitted to the unit on March 17. No other personal information about the patient will be released at this time, McLaren Northern Michigan said. Tests are pending for other patients currently hospitalized at McLaren.
