ALPENA – The Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce fireworks fundraising campaign for Alpena’s annual Independence Day Fireworks Show is in full swing. As 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the United States, we invite you to kick off the holiday weekend by celebrating this historic milestone with our annual fireworks show. This year’s celebration will take place on July 3. The spectacular display will be presented by Small Town Saturday Night Fireworks. The fireworks will be launched at dusk from a barge/pontoon in Thunder Bay on Lake Huron, directly in front of Blair Street Pier, weather permitting.

Alpena County Sheriff’s Office is challenging local businesses and organizations to match or exceed its $500 contribution. Thanks to matching donations, we have already raised nearly $10,000. To reach our $25,000 goal for this event, we still need 30 more businesses, organizations, or individuals to contribute $500 or more. We’re excited to bring another incredible community event to Alpena, and with your support, we can make it happen!
