ALPENA — The Alpena Township Fire Department is expanding its commitment to public safety by assigning two township firefighters, Dillan Romstadt and Wyatt Smith, to support the department’s growing Community Fire Prevention and Education/Community Risk Reduction efforts, according to a press release on Monday.

According to the fire department, these firefighters will take on a proactive role in helping protect residents through prevention-focused outreach. Their responsibilities will include leading safety workshops, visits to local schools, and hosting public demonstrations designed to increase awareness about fire safety, fall prevention, emergency preparedness, and the importance of properly installed and maintained smoke alarms.

“This initiative reflects the department’s forward-thinking approach to reducing emergencies before they occur,” the release stated. “By strengthening community engagement and expanding educational programming, the Alpena Township Fire Department aims to enhance overall safety and improve quality of life for residents throughout the Township.”

“Assigning firefighters to community fire prevention and education strengthens our ability to protect residents before an emergency ever occurs,” Fire Chief Tim Baker said in the release. “Dillan and Wyatt will help us expand outreach, improve safety awareness, and continue building a safer Alpena Township.”

Residents with questions or those interested in scheduling a fire safety presentation, home safety discussion, or community event participation are encouraged to contact the Alpena Township Fire Department for more information.
