Paige Samp

ALPENA – Paige Samp of the Wildcats varsity softball team was named to the Division 1 all-state honorable mention team as a utility player.

Samp pitched 99 innings and played all over the field for Alpena. When not pitching, she primarily patrolled center field but also saw time in left field, right field, shortstop, and second base.

The senior batted .377 with two home runs and five triples. She stole 26 bases this season and tied the school record for career stolen bases with 59.

Samp also recorded seven outfield assists.
