Summer-long construction to begin on M-65

Drivers can anticipate construction cones and lane closures along M-65 in Alcona and Alpena counties beginning on Monday, the state announced on Thursday.

The Michigan Department of Transportation will resurface 27 miles of the road, from the M-72 south junction to McCollum Lake Road and from Van Wagoner Road to M-32.

The state estimates the work will last until Oct. 20 and will require lane closures with traffic regulators.

State officials expect the project to directly and indirectly support 63 jobs, according to a news release.
