Alpena police confirmed on Monday morning that two missing teens, who were last seen on Friday, were found safe downstate over the weekend.

The News learned of the missing juveniles via an email that included the name, description, last known whereabouts, and a photo of the 14-year old girl and the name of the boy she was allegedly with.

On Sunday night, the Alpena Police Department confirmed it was looking for two juveniles from the Alpena area but didn’t release their names or other information about the investigation and search.

Police Chief Joel Jett said the department followed its protocols for cases involving minors by not releasing the subjects’ names and other information while the search was ongoing.

Jett didn’t say where exactly the teens were discovered, but said it was downstate and that the teens are now back in Northeast Michigan.

“They have been delivered, safe and sound, back to Alpena,” Jett said.
