Northland CU to building headquarters in Alpena
Northland Area Federal Credit Union announced to staff on Thursday that it will begin construction of a new administrative headquarters in Alpena. In addition to administrative offices, the new center of operations will house a full-service credit union with commercial lending specialization and enhanced business solutions. Construction is expected to begin in 2017.
Despite the upcoming change of venue for the administrative team, Northland’s member service and call center staff will remain in Oscoda, maintaining operations at the existing full-service location.
“With the current Oscoda office in need of replacement, a decision had to be reached as to the best location to rebuild the headquarters in the long-term,” CEO Pete Dzuris said. “After careful consideration, it was decided that Alpena would be the most strategic location for the new headquarters, while maintaining a full-service branch in Oscoda.”
Upon completion of the Alpena project, Northland plans to continue investing in the Oscoda community with a new full-service branch office. As it has for many years, Northland will continue to provide lobby, ATM and drive-thrpugh services, as well as consumer banking, mortgage services, and small business solutions for the Oscoda community.
“The initial announcement was made to staff last week, “Dzuris said. “It’s a significant change, and we wanted to give everyone time to consider the opportunities and challenges this change represents. I’m pleased to say the response has been overwhelmingly positive so far. We strongly believe that relocating the headquarters will benefit the members and the credit union over the long term.”
