Northland Awards Scholarships to Outstanding Students

Alpena, MI – Northland Area Federal Credit Union has awarded $10,000 in 2026 Jerry Erickson higher education scholarships to 10 local member students.

Northland leaders determined that the Jerry Erickson Scholarship program is a cornerstone of the company’s commitment to education and the development of future leaders in our communities. The recipients, who are Northland Members in good standing, with a minimum 3.00 grade point average, pursuing further education, are chosen through a rigorous process that evaluates their academic achievement, leadership, community service/involvement, and essay content.

Northland’s President and CEO, Pete Dzuris, said, “We are proud to give our scholarships in honor of Jerry Erickson, a veteran, retired volunteer who served the credit union for over 40 years. The individuals who received these scholarships show exemplary drive and passion towards their futures.”.

This year’s Jerry Erickson Scholarship Winners are:

Olivia Duba – Olivia attends Central Michigan University with a focus in environmental science.

Colleen Kubisiak – Colleen attends Grand Valley State University, pursuing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Cole Upper – Cole plans to attend Lake Superior State University with a focus on mechanical engineering.

Abbey Bosel – Abbey plans to attend Saginaw Valley State University, pursuing a career in Nursing.

Shane Snyder – Shane plans to attend Harvard College in the Biology and Pre-Med department.

Kaitlin Hallet – Kaitlin plans to attend Saginaw Valley State University to pursue a degree in Exercise Science.

Kylee Hopp – Kylee attends Central Michigan University, studying Exercise Science and Kinesiology.

Analeis Ming – Analeis plans to attend Knoxx college with a focus in Biology.

Nicholas Wright – Nicholas plans to attend Central Michigan University with a focus on Chemical Engineering.

Ellary Warner – Ellary attends Saginaw Valley State University, studying Secondary Education.
