ALPENA – starting at 7:30 a.m., the City of Alpena Fire Department will be conducting firefighter training at the residential structure located at 2025 S 3rd Ave, at the corner of Ripley Blvd and S 3rd Ave. At that location. Fire and EMS vehicles will be parked around the structure, and include parking on N June St right off 3rd Ave.

Firefighters will be performing multiple training evolutions at that structure that will include the use of smoke from a smoke generator that will be venting outdoors, power tools, and physical destruction of the building on the roof and the sides. There will not be any live fire training at the structure.

The Alpena County Land Bank Authority, in partnership with the City of Alpena and the State Land Bank Authority, will be tearing down the structure the first week of June. We appreciate the partnership with all parties involved to allow the City of Alpena Fire Department to utilize the structure for ongoing training.
