ALPENA — The flow to the City of Alpena’s Wastewater Treatment Plant is beginning to decrease, according to an update by City Manager Rachel Smolinski.

Smolinski stated in an email that the plant is still experiencing three times normal flow at 8,800,000 gallons treated per day, as of Sunday. She said the city is encouraging residents to continue to limit their water usage.

“Please continue to limit water usage and discharge to the sanitary sewer system as much as possible,” Smolinski said. “The City will reevaluate the level and conditions tomorrow and issue further information.”
