Alcona library to host events

HARRISVILLE — The Alcona County Library is hosting a pair of fun and educational events next week. Below are details about them.

Make-It Monday with Mary at the library

Make-It Monday with Mary will be held on Monday, July 13, at 2 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library located at 312 W Main St. Participants will create Atlantic Scallop Shell Trinket Dishes, perfect for holding rings, earrings, coins, or other small treasures. A couple of different designs will be available to choose from. This program is for ages 18 and up. The cost is $15 per person for supplies. No experience necessary. Registration is required, and space is limited to 10 participants. Please call 989-724-6796 to register.

Local author event with Lucy Niles

A Local Author Event with Lucy Niles will be held on July 15, at 5:30 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library, 312 W. Main St., Harrisville. Lucy will share her children’s book, Max the Greatest, a heartwarming story based on true events. The book follows Max, a shelter cat, and the wonderful life and adventures he shares with his owner. Cookies will be available for children, and refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library. Copies of the book will be available for sale at the event, with all proceeds going to local Humane Societies.
