ROGERS CITY – The Presque Isle District Library is gearing up for a summer of fun across the county with events to celebrate spring

The Culinary Colors Spice Club features four unique spices for sampling at the Rogers City and Millersburg Branch Libraries this May. Millersburg kits will be available for pickup May 1st, and include Epazote, Sal de Gusano, a history of both spices and recipe samples. The Rogers City Spice Club Kit features Ancho Chiles and Avocado Leaves along with recipes and histories for both spices. Spice Club kits are free to the public and allow patrons to try new flavors and recipes through a fun, passive program.

Today at 7 p.m., Rogers Theater is hosting “Ladies of the Lights,” an evening with Dianna Stampfler. Learn about the women who took on the demanding job of tending to the beacons that protected our shorelines. Spanning from the 1840’s to present day, view images of keepers, their families, and the lights they kept running during this engaging presentation by Dianna Stampfler. Freewill donation at the door.

Also today, between 1:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m., stop at the Millersburg Library to create a one-of-a-kind handmade gift just in time for Mother’s Day. Participants can make a felt rosebud corsage with free instruction and supplies provided.
