ALPENA — Join WCMU Public Media and the Alpena County Public Library for a special screening of The Librarians, part of the Indie Lens Pop-Up Series.
The event is being held on Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the library
Held during National Library Week , April 19-25, these community screenings bring people together to experience powerful documentaries and share meaningful conversations.
The Librarians explores how library collection standards shape communities across the United States. Beginning with book review debates in Texas, the film follows librarians, parents, and students as they navigate questions of representation, education, and censorship. The documentary offers an inside look at the challenges libraries face and the important role they play in supporting open access to information.
Following the film, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a community discussion about the themes presented in the documentary and the role libraries play in our communities. Refreshments will be served during this event.
