ALPENA — Plans are underway for the 45th-year reunion for the Alpena High School Class of 1978 set for Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the APlex, 701 Woodward Ave., Alpena.

The casual affair will start at 4:30 p.m., and will feature music by Bloc Bros DJ Service, with dancing, a cash bar, and snacks. Dinner at 6 p.m. will include lemon roasted chicken, beef roll-ups, steamed red skin potatoes, green beans, soft rolls with butter, tossed salad, Michigan fruit salad, and dessert. Pizza will be served later in the evening and the fun continues until midnight.

Following dinner, there will be a corn hole tournament, hosted by Kelly Stone Kott!

The reunion committee is trying to get the word out to fellow classmates who may have not heard about the upcoming event and any help in locating them would be greatly appreciated. Attached is a list of classmates, with no current contact information on file with the committee.

Classmates, who have not yet received an invitation, can go to the class Facebook page titled, “Alpena High School (MI) Class of 1978” and request to be a member. Once a member, a classmate can download the invitation to fill out and send in. If an invitation is preferred by way of email, classmates can email a request to: alpenahs78@gmail.com and provide their name, including maiden and married names for women. If a classmate isn’t on Facebook and doesn’t have an email address, they can contact Anna (Jackson) Lewis at 989-657-3324 to provide contact information for mailing, or to ask any questions.

Ticket price for the reunion is $40 per person in advance, or $50 (cash only) at the door. Advance payment is due on or before June 16, 2023, with no refunds after June 20, 2023. Checks can be made payable to Alpena Class of 1978 and should be mailed to Jean Shiemke, 115 E. Alfred St., Alpena, MI 49707.

The committee is doing everything possible to include all classmates in the celebration and hopes to see them all there!
