Kiddie Park closed Sat.

The Kiwanis Kiddie Park located near the bandshell at Bay View Park in Alpena will be closed on Saturday for painting of equipment prior to winter. The project has been approved by The Alpena Kiwanis Club as a Boy Scout Eagle Service Project for Chase Stanley of Hillman. The Kiwanis Club and many other businesses have donated materials to brighten up the park. Performing this project now makes having the park ready for use earlier in the spring. It is expected that the park will only be closed for the one day.

United Way free lunch behind City Hall today

The United Way of Northeast Michigan will kick off its 2020 Campaign with a free lunch drive-through pick up from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., while supplies last, in the parking lot behind Alpena City Hall. Please enter from the Water Street side of the parking lot.

On the menu are pulled pork sliders with cole slaw, a bag of chips and your choice of a drink. Lunch is free while supplies last.
