‘Let’s Talk’ about Black History Month Tuesday

ALPENA — Thunder Bay Theatre is proud to present its annual diversity panel discussion series, “Let’s Talk,” which focuses on bringing light to diversity and inclusivity in Northeast Michigan through community discussion.

“Promoting diversity and inclusivity is one of our core values at Thunder Bay Theatre,” said Lucas Moquin, TBT artistic director. “Let’s Talk is an opportunity for community members to learn from one another and start engaging in some important conversations.”

The first “Let’s Talk” panel discussion will be held Tuesday evening at TBT and will focus on celebrating Black History Month. This is a free event, and all are welcome. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a reception in the lobby. The moderated panel discussion will start at 7 p.m. in the theater.

Tuesday’s moderator will be Sheri L. Stuart, news director and anchor at WBKB-11. Panelists include: Lauren Mixon, anchor and reporter at WBKB; Lenny Avery, executive director of Alcona County Commission on Aging, and youth pastor at Solid Rock Church of God; The Rev. Tom Orth, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church and Ally; and Sandra Pilgrim-Lewis, Michigan DHHS Division of Victim Services culturally specific project manager.

Future “Let’s Talk” discussions will include Women’s History Month in March, Mental Health Awareness in May, and LGBTQ Pride in June.
