Local author Dan Markowski, above left, won the Alpena Writers’ Group’s second Untold Story Fan Fiction Contest. From the submitted stories, Markowski won first place with a tale inspired by the classic, “Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.” Brendan Dowd, pictured above right, earned second place for his story based within the Alien franchise. Awards were presented Saturday, July 6, at Thunder-Con in Alpena.
