Casino trip for Relay For Life
Team Arby’s is planning a Relay For Life fundraiser casino trip Saturday, April 27.
The bus will be leaving Joe’s Bar at 8:30 a.m. that day and returning at 8 p.m. The trip is to casinos in Brimley and Saint Ignace.
The cost is $40 per person. Each participant will receive a casino credit at both casinos.

Drop off your money with your name, address, phone number, and birthdate at Arby’s or Joe’s Bar.
All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
NAMI group to meet Tuesday
The Exploratory team to form Alpena Area NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Alpena Community College’s Besser Technical Center Room 107D.
Join this group if you are interested in encouraging families of those who need mental health services and their loved ones.
NEMAG to meet Wednesday
The Northeast Michigan Artists Guild will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan.

Marine Corps League, Alpena Detachment 1327, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Alpena VFW Post 2496 on Connon Street.

The monthly MidMichigan Medical Center–Alpena retirees lunch will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, at Hunan restaurant in Alpena.
UAW retirees meet March 6
Northeast Michigan UAW Retired Workers Alpena Council will hold its membership meeting at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, at the 19th Hole Restaurant on U.S.-23 North in Alpena.
Lunch will be served at noon. Make reservations by Friday, March 1, by calling chairman Nick Williams at 989-727-4080 or 989-356-4959. Bring a can of food for the needy.
GMA breakfast March 8
Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce will host its next Good Morning Alpena breakfast March 8 at Ramada Alpena.
Breakfast begins at 7 a.m., and the program starts at 7:30 a.m.
The topic is “No More Status Quo.” Learn about businesses that refuse to settle for status quo and are continually changing their business to stay relevant in this ever-changing environment. Leave with tangible ides to implement into your business or organization.
Cost per person is $10, and advanced registration is required by calling or emailing the chamber.

Hillman VFW chili cookoff
Hillman VFW Post 2356 will host its 13th annual chili cookoff from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 9.
All chili entries are welcome. There is no charge for children under 12.
The next regular meeting of the post is at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 7.
