ALCONA COUNTY — The Alcona County Library invites the community to engage with its upcoming programming.

Summer Reading Program begins June 22

The library invites the community to participate in its Summer Reading Program, “Unearth a Story,” for all ages at all the branches. Participants will have a chance to enter for chances to win prizes.

Branch locations include the following:

Harrisville Main Branch: 312 W. Main St. — Phone: (989) 724-6796

The library will kick off the program with its Dinosaurs & Reptiles event on Thursday. The first hands-on, live animal program will be held at the Harrisville Branch at 11 a.m. followed by a second program at the Glennie Branch at 2 p.m. The Dinosaurs & Reptiles events are sponsored by the Friends of the Alcona County Library and the Friends of the Curtis Township Library. Storytime & Craft for Kids at the Alcona County Library

The Alcona County Library will offer its new Storytime & Craft for Kids events at all branches beginning June 22.

Schedule:

Mondays — Hubbard Lake Branch at 1 p.m.

Wednesdays — Lincoln Branch at 11 a.m.

Thursdays — Harrisville Branch at 10:30 a.m., Glennie Branch at 1 p.m., and the Mikado Branch at 3 p.m.

Dementia Caregiver Series begins June 23

The Alcona County Library will host its Dementia Information for Everyone event on Tuesday, June 23 at 4 p.m. at the Harrisville Branch. This session is for caregivers and anyone interested in learning more about dementia and Alzheimer’s. There is no charge to attend. This is a NEMCSA event.

Artist Trading Cards with Abigail Adams

Join Abigail Adams for the library’s Artist Trading Cards workshop on Friday, June 26, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Harrisville Branch.

Artist Trading Cards are small, handmade works of art that can be collected, traded, or shared. This program is open to ages eight and up. There is no charge to attend. This event ties into the library’s upcoming Curiosity Kits, which will be available for checkout at the Harrisville Branch soon. Both the program and Curiosity Kits are funded by a grant from the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan. Space is limited. Please call 989-724-6796 to register.

Watercolor Workshop with Abigail Adams

Explore watercolor painting with Abigail Adams on Friday, June 26, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Harrisville Branch of the Alcona County Library. This hands-on workshop is open to ages eight and up.
