The Alpena Gymnastics AAU Competitive Team recently traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee, to compete in the AAU National Championships, held June 19-22

over a four-day competition.

Twelve Alpena gymnasts represented the team in their respective age divisions:

Lydia Allen, Madilynn Baur, Marla Beltinck, Madelyn Coffman, Alayna Gosselin, Rachel Grider, Aubrey Haney, Aryanna Page, Jensen Prevo, Elliot Radford, Iyla

Smith, and Livvy Spangle.

The team delivered an impressive performance, with every gymnast earning a medal during the national competition. Three Alpena athletes also captured National Championship titles in individual events. Madelyn Coffman won the national title on the balance beam with a score of 9.225. Jensen Prevo claimed

the national title on the vault with a 9.775, while Alayna Gosselin earned the national title on the vault with a perfect score of 10.

In addition to their event championships, Jensen Prevo and Alayna Gosselin qualified for the Junior Olympic Games, which will take place in Des Moines,

Iowa.

“Each of the girls worked hard throughout the season,” said Geri Samp, head coach of the Alpena team. “They earned their way to this competition. And to

come out on top, especially with a 10.0, was amazing. We are extremely proud of every one of them.”

The strong showing at nationals capped off an outstanding season for the Alpena Gymnastics AAU Competitive Team and highlighted the dedication and talent of

its athletes on a national stage.
