Hail to the Queen; may God rest your soul
Queen Elizabeth II was my Queen just as much as any British born citizen. As a young boy in 1952 and a 3rd grader at Brooklands Elementary School in Rochester, Michigan, I had the great pleasure of witnessing the coronation of “the World’s Queen Elizabeth II.”
On that day our school brought in televisions into our classrooms, which was a real novelty as most of the children including me of our community who did not even have TV’s in their own homes, to watch this historical event.. I remember watching this historical moment in complete awe on television on black and white screen.
With the Queen’s passing I am saddened like millions of human citizens of the world, but not that her passing was a tragedy as she lived a long, fruitful and fantastic life, but because she will be sorely missed by all who loved her.
