City’s snow-removal fee burdens seniors
I was not going to get involved in the sidewalk snow problem, but I cannot remain silent. This being the unilateral decision to the bill the property owner for removing snow after two days, to the tune of $80 to do it. I can guess where it came from.
This is a burden on the senior citizen who is on a fixed income and cannot do their own walk. Maybe the decision-makers should have to work for the wages many seniors worked for. Then see what their tune would be.
After the last storm, I see the sidewalk plow was out on State Street because of a grant. Guess what? You also get a citizen grant, called taxes.
I found out that if you use a positive attitude, rather than a negative one with threats of a fine, you would get more cooperation.
