John Wesley Udell

UDELL, John Wesley, Sr., 95, of Alpena, died at home Jan. 17, 2023 with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife, Merle, seven children, Sandra (David) Witkowski, Deborah, Judith (Robert) Nowicki, Cindy (Ernest) LaMay, Carol (Jerry) Sayan, Robin (Mark) Ipock, and John Jr., 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, at First United Methodist Church of Alpena with visitation starting at 11:30 a.m. and service beginning at 12 p.m.. Arnold Lee Black, 96, of Lachine passed away peacefully on May 13, 2023, at Besser Senior Living. He was born on Nov. 25, 1926, in Alpena to the late Russell and Georgina Black. Arnold is survived by his children, Steve (Kay) Black and Jerry (Lynn) Black; his siblings, Arlington (Faith) Black, Dora Ashley, Florence (George) Moutsatson, and Harvey (Emily) Black. James Courtney Millard, 68, of Alpena passed away Friday, April 7, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. James was born Feb. 12, 1955, in Alpena to the late Ernest and Naomi (Soper) Millard. On Oct. 14, 2006, he married Lori Barton. James had various jobs over the years. He graduated from Alpena High School in 1973 and worked the last eight years at Meijer, Inc. Barbara Lee Waltz (Bilewicz) passed away peacefully on May 9, 2023. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was born Sept. 4, 1941, to Jennie Kulesa Bilewicz and raised by her mother and stepfather Grover Harrison. She graduated from Lakeshore High School in St. Clair Shores, Michigan in 1959. She married Louis Waltz Nov. 7, 1964. Affectionately known as “The Duchess” and Louie “The Duke” they made St. Clair Shores their home. Together they built a wonderful life. Robert E. Alvey (Bob) passed away early Sunday (May 7, 2023) of natural causes at the age of 90. Bob married Mary E. Coon on Dec. 28, 1954, then graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in Feb. 1955. While at the University he was a member of the Air Force ROTC program and a member of the Varsity Rifle Team.
