WCMU’s signals in Northeast lower Michigan return

WCML TV Channel 6 and 91.7 FM have returned to the air, according to a news release from WCMU Public Media. The signals are broadcasting at roughly 50% power, which reaches about 70% of the lost broadcast coverage.

Earlier this year, WCMU’s transmitting building went off the air after catching on fire and burning down completely. The Hillman Area Fire Department was unable to determine the cause of the fire that occurred on Feb. 28.

Designs are coming together for a permanent building and it’s anticipated that a return to full power will be sometime next year, according to the release.
