Alcona softball takes two wins
Alcona High School softball won two games on Thursday, meaning they are now 6-0 for league play.
Game one wrapped up with a final score of 9-3.
Miah Schopfer pitched six innings, striking out 12, walking two, and giving up three hits. Three runs were scored by Oscoda on errors.
Sage Gauthier went two for four with a single and triple. Olivia Borchardt with two RBIs, Baylee Goddard, Gracyn Tracy with one RBI, and Jena Wambold each added singles. Eliyana Grimshaw added a triple with two RBIs.
Game two finished in four innings with a final score of 16-1.
Schopfer took the mount again, with five strikeouts, one walk, and five hits.
Tracy went two for three with two singles and two RBIs. Addison Beatty, Grimshaw with three RBIs, Hannah Renchenski with three RBIs, Schopfer with one RBI, and Wambold also added singles. Gauthier added a triple with one RBI. Goddard walked three times and was hit by a pitch, giving her an RBI as well.
Coach Chelsea Neuenfeldt said, “We are very proud of how well the girls played (Thursday). The errors were kept to a minimum and communication was very good. We had some pivotal plays defensively that gave the girls the momentum they needed.”
