Ruling expected today in water-sewer trial
ALPENA — Closing arguments are wrapping up in the trial over how much Alpena Township should pay Alpena for water and sewer services, and Judge Ed Black said he could issue a ruling today.
The trial caps a decade of negotiations and litigation between the two governments.
Alpena Township buys water from Alpena to offer to many township residents. The township has refused to pay rate increases imposed by the city because township officials believe the city should treat the township as a wholesale customer because of the volume of water the township purchases.
