Man arrested for threatening to stab teens

A 43-year-old Alpena man was arraigned in 88th District Court on Tuesday for threatening to stab teenagers on Dawson Street.

The Alpena Police Department said in a news release a teenager on Saturday called police and said a male subject had just threatened him with a knife.

When officers arrived on the scene, the teens told police the suspect had allegedly approached them near the intersection of Adams and Dawson, where he asked the teenagers for beer and became angry when told him they were not old enough to buy alcohol.

The suspect then allegedly produced a large, fixed-blade knife and threatened to stab them.

When police found the suspect on Bolton Street and tried taking him into custody, he resisted officers.

The suspect was charged with felonious assault, carrying a concealed weapon, and resisting and obstructing police.
