Northern Michigan environmental group Huron Pines will receive nearly $530,000 to support its AmeriCorps program, the state announced on Tuesday.

Federal funds dispensed as grants totalling $13.4 million, funneled through the Michigan Community Service Commission, will support more than 1,100 Michigan AmeriCorps members at Huron Pines and 22 other Michigan organizations.

Huron Pines employs 26 AmeriCorps members, according to a news release from the Governor’s Office.
