Applications are available through the City of Alpena for people to acquire firewood from trees that have been cut down in Alpena. The application is available at city hall, the Department of Public Works building, and on the city’s website at www.alpena.mi.us at no cost. Wood is located at the wooded lot on US-23 North, next to Suburban Propane. Adjacent homeowners were given the first right of refusal for this wood. As opposed to letting it deteriorate, the city is offering it to the public after completing the application. Wood on the lot is available on a first come first serve basis.
