Local government roundup: Matt Waligora appoints Quintin Meek to the Downtown Development Authority

At its meeting on March 7, the Alpena Municipal Council…

∫ to hire Thunder Bay Electric for $47,915 to install new lighting at the Washington Avenue Park, the harbor, and along Johnson Street.

∫ voted 4-0 to adopt Ordinance 22-471, which amends the City of Alpena Zoning Map.

∫ voted 4-0 to award the project for replacement of the exterior doors at the water production plant to Meridian Contracting in the amount of $22,961.

∫ voted 4-0 to contribute $2,000 to the Northeast Michigan Council of Governments for the May 7 County-Wide Clean-Up Day.

∫ voted to have Mayor Matt Waligora and Clerk Anna Soik to sign the discharge of deferred payment mortgage between Thunder Bay Holdings LLC and the City of Alpena.

∫ Waligora Mayoral appointed Quintin Meek to the Downtown Development Authority for a four-year term expiring on March 1, 2026.

ALPENA TOWNSHIP

At its March 8 meeting, the Alpena Township Board of Trustees…

∫ voted to approve the new building permit fee schedule that went into effect on April 1. It is the first time in seven years the fee schedule was updated.

∫ voted to approve the resolution establishing township zoning ordinance schedule of fees and the new fees effective April 1.

∫ voted to amend the sanitary sewer and water ordinance schedule of rates and charges.

∫ approved payment to Summit Fire Protection in the amount of $536 for required hydro testing of SCBA tanks.
