One handed cupboards
Puls
How long does it take you to set your table for meals? Do you reach into your cupboards and pull out what you need without moving a lot of other dishes? I’d like to explain an easy “one handed” method to make this job as simple as possible.
Do you have two or three different types of plates in one pile? Are your glasses stacked up on each other so that you have to pull them apart? When you use your “good” dishes are there other plates or dishes on top of them or in front of them that make them difficult to get to so that you don’t even bother to ever use them?
Let’s make this daily job easy. Take everything out of the cupboards you use for setting the table. What do you really use? If you’re honest with yourself, there probably aren’t a lot of different kinds that you use daily. Now put back these plates, glasses, and bowls so that you can grab them one handed without moving anything else. It also will simplify the process when you put them away clean.
No more lifting stacks to put away larger items. No more pulling apart stacked glasses. After you’ve mastered these cupboards, work on going through other cupboards that are too full. It’s easy to have too many dishes.
When I threw out this idea for an article to a sister recently, she thought it was a great idea because she thought of her own plates they seldom use but are on top of the plates they do use. She actually went home, decluttered that area, and found that it simplifies her life in a small way.
More is not necessarily better. Simplify the process and make your life easier.
