Forest Service names new ranger

Greyling Brandt

CADILLAC — The Huron-Manistee National Forests are proud to introduce the new district ranger for the Mio Ranger District, Greyling Brandt.

As District Ranger, Brandt is responsible for the management of the natural resources, and personnel of the 438,000-acre Mio Ranger District. His official start date will be Jan. 17. He is currently serving as the acting district ranger in Mio.

“Greyling brings over 16 years of a diverse range of experience and leadership to the Huron-Manistee National Forests,” says Leslie Auriemmo, forest supervisor. “His proven leadership skills and ability to bring people together towards the big picture will be of great benefit for Mio and across the Forests.”

Greyling grew up in northern Wisconsin and always wanted to work for the Forest Service. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and Soils Management.

He began his Forest Service career as a student intern in recreation on the Superior National Forest in Minnesota. Greyling has worked on the Los Padres National Forest in Southern California, the Fishlake National Forest in Utah, the Chequamegon Nicolet National Forests in Wisconsin and on the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri. He has held such varied positions as implementation forester, district recreation and lands staff officer, windstorm project recovery lead, acting public affairs officer and acting district ranger.

With his varied experiences and leadership skills, Greyling will be an incredible asset to the Mio Ranger District and the Huron-Manistee National Forests.
