Fun run for fireworks

BARTON CITY — The Harrisville Fireworks Fund is hosting its 4th Annual Alcona Fun Run. The event on May 2 is made possible by the Harrisville Fireworks Fund and Barton City Improvement Association. People are encouraged to get out your ATVs, ORVs, and Side by Sides and take in the fun. Registration begins at 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the Barton City baseball field.

During this event you will travel to five different stops and participate in games to earn a score. Winners will be announced at 7 p.m. at the Barton City Bar.

The day will feature 50/50 drawings and a live auction. Riders and non-riders alike are welcome to participate in the live auction at 6 p.m. at the Barton City Bar. All proceeds go to Harrisville Fireworks Fund and Barton City Fireworks.

Harrisville Fireworks Fund is a nonprofit organization dedicated solely to keeping the 4th of July fireworks celebration alive and well. This is a fantastic family event enjoyed by thousands every year. The fireworks show will be a pyromusical event again this year; all blasts will be choreographed to music. Disc jockeys will be pumping at the Harrisville Harbor and the boat launch to keep the party vibes flowing. Prefer to catch the show from a cozier spot? No worries. Just tune your radio to WxTF 97.9 FM to enjoy the rockets’ red glare and bombs bursting in air from wherever you are! For the best pyromusical listening experience tune in using any broadcast radio (no streaming/wireless devices). Our dazzling show this year with professionals from the fireworks company again handling the firing is at an overall cost of $37,000 – a substantial increase from last year. We can proudly say that this is the fourth year that we have had the largest show for several counties, and we want to make this year’s celebration even more fantastic for the 250th Anniversary of the USA.

All of our funding is obtained through the Fun Run, private donations and donations at Harrisville State Park’s Halloweekend. Any donations can be mailed to Harrisville Fireworks Fund, PO Box 195, Harrisville, MI 48740.
