2 more Northeast Michiganders infected

ALPENA — One more Alpena County resident and one more Alcona County resident have tested positive for coronavirus infection, according to local public health officials.

That means 179 Northeast Michigan residents have tested positive for the disease since the pandemic hit Michigan in mid-March, including 119 Alpena County residents, 30 Alcona County residents, 19 Presque Isle County residents, and 11 Montmorency County residents.

No new deaths or recoveries were reported today.

Of the 179 Northeast Michiganders infected, 147 have recovered and 17 have died after being infected.

The state reported 15 new deaths and 718 new cases today, bringing the number of deaths in the state to 6,495 and the total number infected since mid-March to 103,186.
