ALPENA – The Annual Support Committee of the Development Council of MyMichigan Health Foundation is preparing for its annual Meat and Greet fundraiser, a Friday press release stated. The community is invited to attend the event from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m on May 7 at Player’s Pub & Grub in Alpena.

The evening will feature raffle drawings, offering the chance to win an assortment of meat packages in assorted cuts and sizes. The event is open to the public, at no cost to attend. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, including a special event appetizer created by Player’s Pub & Grub. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

Meat and Greet is hosted by the Annual Support Committee, a volunteer group dedicated to creating opportunities for the community to support MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena, according to the release As part of the Development Council, the committee hosts a variety of fundraisers, educational programs, and recognition and community-building events throughout the year.

The concept for the event was introduced by community member Tonya Spens, who brought the concept from her home state of Minnesota.

“It’s a common type of fundraiser in my home state,” Spens said in the press release. “We purchase meat and raffle it off at a bar or the local VFW. It’s a super lively and fun way to connect with the community while raising money for a good cause.”

Ann Diamond, MyMichigan Health Foundation development director, said that Player’s Pub & Grub has been a supportive community partner for the fundraiser.

“We are thrilled that Player’s Pub & Grub agreed to partner with us to host the event this year,” Diamond said in the press release. “They have been incredibly enthusiastic and supportive of the idea, and we hope to see plenty of our friends, coworkers, and even some new faces at this year’s event.”

The MyMichigan Health Foundation supports the patients and families served by MyMichigan Health through raising funds for equipment, services, and programs.
